Have you ever had a friend that was really a great listener? Someone who each time you talked to them they actually remembered the little details that you dropped last time and asked you about them. Those are some of the best friends to have! They seem to always be attentive and present to you.
In our sermon series, Bless in the Mess, we want to help people by helping people help other people. I know that is a mouthful, but it really does make a difference in our lives. Studies have continually shown that as we care for other people, we ourselves become happier. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive!
Being present to other people is one of the biggest ways we can bless others at this time. I know that I seem to be distracted all the time with what is happening in the world, work struggles, or notifications on my phone. However, as Christians, we are called to bless others by being fully present to them. Jesus models this repeatedly in the gospels as he blesses the disciples and those around him by being fully present to their needs.
This weekend we will learn how we can Bless in the Mess by being “Present” with those around us. I hope you join us for week 2 of Bless in the Mess and invite a friend! That may be a great way you can be present with them at this time.
