Sunday Serve Opportunities
Welcome to the First UMC family! We believe that serving is an essential part of our spiritual journey and growth as a community. On Sundays, we come together to worship, learn, and serve one another in love. It's a beautiful way to express our gratitude for God's grace and blessings. We invite you to join our dedicated team of volunteers who help create a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment for everyone who attends our services. We have a variety of roles available, and we're confident that there's a perfect fit for your unique talents and passions. Here's an overview of some of the roles you can participate in:
Our friendly ushers play a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters our church. They greet people at the doors, help them find seats, and provide guidance and assistance throughout the service. Ushers also help with collecting offerings, distributing bulletins, and supporting any special needs or requests from our congregation. This is a great opportunity for those who enjoy meeting new people and have a heart for hospitality.
We believe in the power of God's Word to transform lives. Our Scripture readers have the privilege of sharing a Bible reading with the congregation during our worship services. This role requires a love for the Scriptures and a desire to share their wisdom with others. If you have a clear and confident speaking voice and feel called to help others connect with the Bible, this role might be perfect for you.
At First UMC, we are passionate about nurturing the faith of our younger members. Our Kids and Youth Leaders play a crucial role in this mission, as they guide and inspire children and teenagers in their spiritual journey. They lead Sunday school classes, youth group meetings, and other age-appropriate activities to help our young people grow in their relationship with God. If you have a heart for working with children or teenagers and a desire to make a lasting impact on their lives, this role is an incredible opportunity.
A warm smile and friendly greeting can make all the difference in someone's day! Our greeters are the first point of contact for visitors and members alike, providing a welcoming atmosphere as they arrive at our church. Greeters are stationed at various entrances and are responsible for welcoming people, answering questions, and directing guests to the appropriate areas within the church. If you love making others feel at home and have a passion for hospitality, this role is a perfect fit.
Our A/V Team is the behind-the-scenes crew that helps create an engaging and immersive worship experience for our congregation. They manage the sound, lighting, and multimedia elements of our services, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and seamlessly. This role is ideal for those with technical skills or a willingness to learn, as well as a heart for using their talents to enhance the worship experience for others.
We are excited to have you join our team and look forward to seeing the impact your service will have on our church community! If any of these roles resonate with you or if you have questions about where you might best fit, please don't hesitate to reach out to our First Impressions Coordinator, Kristi Harris—or fill out the form below! We can't wait to serve alongside you as we grow together in faith, hope, and love!
